About the Workshop

ECS IITM Student Chapter, in association with PSG Institute of Advanced Studies Coibatore is conducting a two days workshop on "Prospects of Li-ion batteries and emerging electrochemical energy systems", scheduled on July 29-30, 2024,

This comprehensive two-day workshop is designed to provide an understanding into the fundamentals of electrochemistry and its applications in Li-ion batteries and emerging electrochemical energy systems. Key topics include:

    •    Electrochemistry Fundamentals: Understanding reaction rates, current density, Gibbs free energy, voltage, overpotential, activation energy, the Nernst equation, and concentration overpotential.
   •    Battery Discussions: Exploring the structure of anode and cathode materials, charge-discharge curves for solid solutions and phase transition materials, State of Charge, depth of discharge, sources of heat generation in batteries, and electrolyte selection.
   •    Analytical Techniques: Basics of Impedance Spectroscopy, Cyclic Voltammetry, and the Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration Technique.
   •    Hands-On Sessions: Practical experience to foster industry-academia interactions
